Mother’s Day specialties, Mother’s Day treat- bring Mom in the market for a free ice cream sundae. Memorial Day- container gardens and full selection of annuals for memorial planting.
June
Perfect time to plant tender annuals for beds and borders or vegetable
gardens. Father’s Day-Bring Dad into the market for a free ice cream
sundae. Late June-strawberries picked locally everyday. The first of
the locally grown early vegetables such as fresh peas and many green
lettuce varieties.
July
Summer’s here when the first of the locally grown sweet corn
is ready for your eating pleasure. Make the season menu
planning easy using the freshly grown salad fixings and
great vegetables.
August
Early August brings the first of the Lone Maple Farm
apples. Many tart eating and sauce apples are only
available during the short harvest window. First of the
field grown red ripe juicy tomatoes are at their best.
Mid August brings the dog days of summer and the perfect
time to enjoy Pennsylvania peaches and cantaloupe. The
sweetest sweet corn varieties ripen during the next few
weeks.
September
Early September- Time to enjoy the garden vegetables
before fall arrives. This time also heralds the great
harvesting of several varieties of eating and cooking
apples-Tydeman, Early Mac, Early Pippin, and Burgundy.
The first of the fall varieties of winter squash ripen
now. Mid-September- Apple season is in full swing with
the first of the U-pick varieties now available. Be
sure to call the market at 607-724-6877 for days and
hours of picking. At the market you’ll find MacIntosh,
Cortland, Pippin in all size containers. This is also
the time of the first pressing of cider. Stop by for a
free sample. Each pressing brings a new flavor since
the blend changes with ripening of different fruit.
Donuts are made daily to complement that ice cold glass
of pure apple juice. Watch them being made each weekend
through Oct. 31.
October
The first of October brings the change of theme at the
market to one of fall harvest and Halloween. Visit our Pumpkin House for Piles and Piles of
all sizes of pumpkins. Or if you prefer you can pick your own pumpkin in a new expanded Upick Pumpkin patch. Gourds and Corn Stalks are available at the market as
well as many late fall fruits vegetables such as
locally grown potatoes and Concord grapes.
November
Order your Fresh turkeys, pies, and Thanksgiving fruits and vegetables. We continue to have our own sweet cider...great with our fresh Donuts made daily. Stock up for Winter as our season comes to an end on November 26th.
