Community Supported Agriculture Program...a WIN/WIN for all.
What is a CSA?
CSA is the abbreviation for Community Supported Agriculture - away of connecting farmers to New Yorkers. CSAs help to support farmily farms while providing urban and suburban
neighborhoods access to high quality, locally-grown, affordable produce.
How Does it Work?
During the winter, the CSA farm sells shares in the farm's upcoming harvest to individuals, families or institutions. The share price goes toward the cost of growing and distributing a season's worth of produce and paying the farmer and farm workers a living wage.
It's a WIN for the customer as they get fresh, locally grown items. It's a WIN for the farm as they get working capital upfront when it's needed most.
What is a share at Lone Maple Farm?
2014 will be our 7th year (and 41st year of business!!) of providing a CSA program. With your support over the past seasons, we have been able to expand and have future plans to expand both the depth and breadth of our agricultural operations. Our program has evolved over this time to provide the maximum benefit, ease of use, simplicity, and flexiblity for our customers. Our farm is very diversified with many crops - most of which are hydroponic with harvesting periods from May to October.
The Lone Maple Farm CSA allows you to choose anything in our farm market when you need them (not specific items or specific weeks of the season)...any fruits, vegetables, baked goods, meats, eggs, plants, wine, ice cream, etc. CSA share holders (Share Cropper or greater) receive a 10% discount on ALL items at the Lone Maple Farm Market.
You decide from 3 different share holder amounts:
"Share Cropper" is $250 (10% discount on all items)
"Jr. Farmer" is $500 (10% discount on all items)
"Sr. Farmer" is $750 (10% on all items)
For 2014, we ask that you choose your share that matches your expeditures for the season...any balance expires in the year purchased.
Payment is by check only sent via regular mail. Sign up is simple and available online from 1/1/14 to 3/30/14.
After you sign up, you will be emailed a link to print out your CSA Shareholder card. Bring this card with you each time you visit our Farm Market. It works just like a pre-paid phone card...plus you get a 10% discount (Share Cropper or greater) on everything you purchase. Your remaining balance after each visit is displayed on the bottom of your receipt. For security reasons
we don't not allow internet access to account balances, but you can email firstname.lastname@example.org anytime and we will email your balance to you.
